Venue: Volunteer Centre Edinburgh, 45 Queensferry Street Lane EH2 4PF Do you or your friends/colleagues need to make presentations? A short course in presentation skills. Many people are called upon to speak to groups of people - talking about their experiences as a volunteer, introducing a speaker or making a formal presentation. This course of 2 sessions of 2 ½ hours each will give the basic confidence to do this and to develop existing skills. Richard Ellis runs a training and consultancy business in Edinburgh. He works with both the public and private sectors and has carried out training for the British Council in 15 countries. He has jointly published three books on communication and is sole author of three further ones. He trains people in communication skills, effective presentations, report writing, better chairing of meetings and interview skills and has worked with doctors, dentists, lecturers, managers of charities, housing associations and local government. He will look at such areas as: the key elements of public speaking, planning your talk; coping with nerves; making the best possible use of visual aids; how to handle questions. As a Returned VSO Volunteer he has kindly offered to donate all proceeds to VSO This training is suitable for anyone who would like to develop their presentation and public speaking skills. Cost and ticket/booking information: £35 per person for 2 sessions of 2 ½ hours each. For more information and / or to reserve a place email nick@vso-edinburgh.org.uk | |

Venue: Volunteer Centre Edinburgh 45 Queensferry Street Lane EH2 4PF The AGM comes round but once a year (hence the word annual) so it would be a shame to miss the once every 52 weeks opportunity to come along, talk about what we've done, what we're going to do and how you might like to get involved (no obligation). It would be great to see some of the people who have been along to pub nights, to come and say what kind of thing they would be interested in..
